The eight-and-a-half-hour power shutdown will take place from 7:30 am to about 4 pm and will affect all departments at the hospital located in Hagersville.
“Extensive planning has been done to ensure that patient care and safety remain our top priority,” said Aaron Gautreau, director of communications and public relations. “Key services, including the Emergency Department, inpatient unit, and pharmacy will remain fully operational to provide uninterrupted care.”
Patients and families may experience some delays during the power outage, though one of the two main patient/visitor elevators will remain in service and temporary lighting has been installed in public washrooms.
The Haldimand Family Health Team Heath Care Center will remain open, but its Ambulatory Care service will not have internet access.

Similarly, the WHGH Cafeteria will not be able to process debit or credit transactions due to the internet outage, while Life Labs and the Volunteer Coffee Shop will be closed for the day. The main level hearing clinic, and the second floor Thrive Group will also be impacted.
“This project has involved tremendous work and collaboration from others. Communication with partners and stakeholders has been paramount as we have worked through the planning,” Gautreau noted. “WHGH apologizes for any inconvenience this power reduction may cause and appreciates your support and understanding during this time.”
