Malmö FF wins SM gold in 2024 after victory against IFK Göteborg

Malmö FF are Swedish football champions after securing a win in the Allsvenskan with a 2-1 victory against IFK Gothenburg tonight. It took an impressive turnaround to secure the team’s 24th SM gold.
– It’s just as nice every time, it’s incredible feelings, says Malmö’s Isaac Kiese Thelin to Max after the final whistle.

After a half played, it was the Gothenburgers who led the match with a goal. But in the second half, Malmö FF were able to equalize, through Taha Ali, and then also take the lead in the 77th minute of the match through Hugo Bolin.

Two rounds remain in the Allsvenskan, and with tonight’s victory against Gothenburg, Malmö FF has an unassailable lead against runner-up Hammarby, and with that the gold is secured.

Malmö FF’s men have now become Swedish champions 24 times, which is by far the most.

At the final whistle, wild celebrations erupted and hundreds of Malmö supporters invaded the pitch.

The biggest MFF hero this evening is Hugo Bolin, who made a big success.

– It has gone very quickly. A lot has happened and I’m damn glad it’s going well. We have been good throughout the season. We have run over the top teams and especially when they were here. We have shown that we are the best in Sweden by quite a large margin, says Bolin, who scored the decisive goal in the gold match.

Invites Haaland to the celebration

Malmö FF’s successful coach Henrik Rydström has now led the team to two straight SM golds.

– It feels damn good. We’re going to enjoy tonight, it’s an important part of life and in football, says Henrik Rydström to TV4 after the match.

Norwegian star player Erling Haaland won the Ballon d’Or gala in Paris. Instead, he appeared at the Eleda Stadium where Malmö FF won the SM gold. Henrik Rydström opens up that Haaland is welcome to participate in the celebration.
