40 cars have been destroyed in a heavy fire in several garages in Växjö, reports P4 Kronoberg.
Anders Altberg, operations leader, tells the radio channel that he has never been involved in anything like this.
– I estimate flames between 15-20 meters straight up in the air. An incredibly large fire, he says.
Police and emergency services were called during the night to a garage in Växjö due to a violent fire. According to P4 Kronoberg around forty cars have been destroyed in the fire.
According to mission leader Anders Altberg, the flames have gone as high as 20 meters and he has never witnessed anything like this.
– It could have ended really badly. It looks like someone has dropped a big bomb, he says to the radio.
Several carports burned out
When TV4 Nyheterna talks to the emergency services on Monday morning, they say that the fire is out and that they will monitor it until lunchtime.
– There are several carports that are more or less burnt out, says the rescue service’s management operator.
No one was injured and the police are investigating the whole thing as a suspected arson.
