Chery is expected to be included in the organized industrial zone to be established in Samsun. The following was reported about this development: “Work was carried out to establish a second OIZ in Samsun. An area of 318 hectares in Tekkeköy was determined where many companies can produce. While the work is ongoing, it is heard that Chinese Chery will also be given a large space in the OIZ. It was planned to cover this place by first making a deduction from the companies allocated from the OIZ. When it was realized that the Coastal Law needed to be amended because the OIZ was established on the coastline, a one-sentence article was added to the tax package submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. This article only requested permission for the establishment of the OIZ. However, when the tax package was withdrawn, this article became void. In the end, the formula was found by adding an article to the proposal regarding the consumer law, which was still being negotiated. However, when Chery was involved, an ‘expansion permit’ was added to the permit for the establishment of an OIZ. Moreover, it is guaranteed by law that no money will be paid to the state for expansion on public land.”
