The leader of the movement Rodrigue Petitot travels through the neighborhoods of the island of Martinique for several days by going to meet the residents. In Lorraine, seeks to swell the ranks of its demonstrations. The method used has evolved since the start of the mobilization: in addition to its live transmissions from social networks – notably TikTok -, it now materializes through peaceful marches, ” sit-ins » and roadblocks erected on certain traffic routes.
There is only one goal behind it all, increase pressure on mass distribution to lower food prices. In the sights of the Rally for the Protection of Afro-Caribbean Peoples and Resources (RPPRAC), there are also all these brands which absolutely must lower their curtains.
Rodrigue Petitot no longer believes in the promises made 8,000 km from Paris: “ What we expect is that all those who have the power and the duty to restore respect for the Martinican people who must feed themselves do their jobthe forty-year-old annoys. The Overseas Minister must do his job. I heard he doesn’t move under pressure. And yet, there is pressure in New Caledonia, he moved there. The Antilles, notably Martinique, never existed in the eyes of the French colonial system as such. »
In the South, a demonstration was held on Friday in front of the Génipa shopping center. Sonia, 69, follows the different operations since last September. She has been waiting for years for things to change: “ I have grandchildren. I used to buy small packets of biscuits, previously for 2 euros. But now it’s 4 euros. Is this normal?? »
This evening, in the South, a new dam has just been installed at François. A quiet night compared to recent days.
