Pension reform: deputies vote for the return to 62, the law soon to be repealed?

Pension reform deputies vote for the return to 62 the

A bill aimed at repealing the pension reform will be submitted to the National Assembly for a vote. MEPs have already spoken out in favor of a return to 62 years.

This is one of the big topics of the week. A legislative proposal aimed at repealing the pension reform and returning the retirement age to 62 will be submitted to a vote by deputies. The text is supported by all the deputies of the National Rally who, like the New Popular Front, have made this issue a hobby horse. Thursday, October 31, the day of debates in the National Assembly will be entirely devoted to the proposals of the far-right political group, which above all intends to strike a major blow on the question of pensions.

The end of retirement at 64 is an idea mainly defended at the Palais Bourbon since the left and the far right, both defenders of such a modification, represent more than half of the elected representatives of the Assembly. A trend which was recently confirmed during a vote in the Social Affairs Committee where the repeal of the reform was adopted. What to roll out a red carpet for Marine Le Pen?

Not so fast. Before possibly entering into force, the text must pass a whole series of political pitfalls, between ideological wars and constitutional obstacles. For the RN, it’s a real obstacle course ahead, the outcome of which is more than uncertain. But the Lepenists’ proposal should only be a first step. Other repeal attempts are already planned in the coming weeks.
