no provisional release for economist Etienne Fakaba Sissoko

In Mali, for more than four months, eleven political leaders, members of the “March 31 declaration” for the return to constitutional order, have been in prison. During a broadcast on a local television in Bamako, Dr Modibo Soumaré, president of the Alliance of Democratic Forces (AFD) spoke to defend his fellow opponents arrested for more than four months and imprisoned for notably “ endangering state security and opposing the exercise of legitimate authority » : « I consider that my comrades were not involved in any conspiracy. I am convinced of it. I have the agenda, I have the document, there is nothing that could harm state security. »

This Tuesday, at the request of lawyers of the eleven politiciansthe Bamako Court of Appeal should reopen the case, to rule on the request for their release. Dr Modibo Soumaré is also ringing the alarm bells. According to him, In today’s Mali, fundamental freedoms are being called into question. Clearly, he calls for the release of detained Malian politicians and recalls that the return to constitutional order must be the priority of the military in power in order to get the country out of the current crisis.
