According to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health, two children have died after Israel struck the Kamal Adwan hospital in the Jabalia refugee camp, in northern Gaza.

– Two children have died in the intensive care unit after the hospital’s generators failed when the oxygen equipment was hit, said the Ministry of Health in a statement.

The Ministry of Health also said that Israeli forces had fired in different departments of the hospital, increasing panic and anxiety.

The Israeli Armed Forces, on the other hand, told the news agency AFP that it is “not aware of the ongoing shooting and attacks in the area of the hospital”.

The Israeli armed forces said in the afternoon that they were carrying out military operations at the hospital. The Gaza Ministry of Health said at the time that Israeli forces had arrested hundreds of people, including staff members and people who had fled to the hospital.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, there are about 600 people inside the hospital, including patients and medical staff.

WHO got in touch with the hospital

Director of the World Health Organization WHO Tedros Ghebreyesus said late on Friday evening that the organization got in touch with the hospital’s staff.

According to Tedros, three medical personnel have been injured, 44 have been arrested and four ambulances have been damaged.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said earlier Friday that Israel’s armed forces are putting the entire population of northern Gaza at risk of shelling, siege and starvation. According to Türk, the Israeli armed forces have ordered hundreds of thousands to move out of the way of the fighting, even though it is not safe to move.

– The bombs are still falling. The Israeli armed forces separate family members from each other and arrest many. It has been reported that shots were fired at fleeing people, Türk said in his statement.

Türk said the actions of the Israeli armed forces can meet the hallmarks of so-called atrocity crimes. Atrocity crimes include genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
