the Sanchez government weakened by the sex scandal which hits

Two days after his announcement to definitively abandon politics, the Íñigo Errejón affair continues to be talked about. This leader of the radical left Sumar party, who was the spokesperson in Parliament for the radical left platform, half-heartedly admitted to having resigned from his functions after being accused of “ sexual assault » by an actress, who formally filed a complaint on Thursday October 24. The Errejón scandal fuels internal wars within the left and weakens the Sanchez government.

The Sumar party led by Labor Minister Yolanda Díaz apologized.

The sexual assault denounced by actress Elisa Mouliaá occurred a year ago, and the radical left group recognizes that its detection mechanisms failed. Its leaders should have seen that their spokesperson was behaving inappropriately with women.

This disavowal is all the more serious as it affects a formation which precisely defends the rights of women and the horrors of patriarchy. This gives arguments to the right in its cultural battle against the left and its contradictions, underlines political scientist Pablo Simón.

Sumar was already on a downward slope, this affair sharpens its internal divisions and in turn weakens the socialist government of Pedro Sanchez. It depends on its alliance with Sumar to survive and vote on the next budget.

Leader Pedro Sanchez really did not need this, already weakened by the indictment of his former Minister of Infrastructure for corruption and the legal proceedings against his wife Begoña Gómez accused of having obtained a university position fraudulently.
