During the evening’s “Idol”, the participants performed songs in Swedish, something that many of them saw as a challenge. For many of the participants, the performances were also extra emotional.
Olivia Oyemade Merenius was one of them. She sang Thomas Stenström’s “Do you see the moon where you are tonight? (together again). The song has been featured in a Cancer Foundation film, and Olivia Oyemade Merenius dedicated the performance to two women close to her who have passed away from cancer.
– It felt like an honor. I’m so glad it turned out so well. It was a little shaky vocally, but it felt like an honor to be able to do that song, it means a lot to many, she says after the program.
Anders Bagge concerned: Difficult to talk
Anders Bagge in the jury was noticeably touched by the performance, and told about the fact that his mother, Lisbeth Bagge, recently passed away from breast cancer.
– I would be lying if I said that this did not affect me. My mother died a few weeks ago from breast cancer, it’s hard for me to talk right now, he said on the show before continuing:
– It was a successful combination of voice and song choice, but above all the feeling was there. That’s what everyone here notices and what everyone out on the sofas notices.
“Nice to be able to touch”
Olivia Oyemade Merenius says it felt good to see the jury’s reactions.
– They are the ones who otherwise offer criticism, so it’s nice to feel that you can touch them too. Same with my friends sitting in the audience. It’s nice to feel that they have the same feelings as I do, even if I try to keep them in check for a minute and a half, she says.
