It has been a bloody week in this state located south of Khartoum. Among the villages attacked, Al Sahira and Azraq. According to the Hasaheisa resistance committee, the paramilitaries of the rapid support forces have imposed a “total siege” on residents and are increasing abuses against civilians.
Access to the land is impossible and communications are cut. It is therefore difficult to establish balance sheets. But according to the lists of victims distributed by residents, in Al Sahira alone, there were already more than a hundred dead this Saturday morning and many injured.
Attacks against civilians in this area began last Sunday and have increased since. This is believed to be a retaliatory operation by the RSF, after their regional commander decided to defect to join the regular army.
According to the Sudanese doctors’ union, the level of violence is such that rescue operations to help the injured have become impossible. The union is calling on the UN to press for the establishment of humanitarian corridors to safe villages.
