  • The Riksbank’s shock increase gave the banks an extra 80 billion

Since the Riksbank’s shock increase, the banks have made extra profits of SEK 80 billion, according to calculations such as Today’s News done.

From January 2022 to January 2024, the variable average interest rate on a mortgage was raised from 1.5 percent to 4.9 percent. On a regular bank account, however, the interest rate did not rise nearly as much, from 0.1 percent to 2.

The difference has contributed to an explosion in the so-called net interest – which has caused the banks’ interest income to increase more than their interest costs. And with that, profits have risen, writes DN.

  • After the scandalous scenes in the football stands – “Everyone needs to help each other”

A cultural change is required in the Swedish football stands, says Social and Sports Minister Jakob Forssmed (KD) in Ekot’s Saturday interview.

Last week the match between Hammarby and Djurgården was canceled after pyrotechnics and bangers were thrown from the stands.

    – There is still an image that you can apply to football if you want to engage in acts of hatred and violence and if you want to disrupt the order – that there is an acceptance around that, he says.

That image is incorrect, according to Forssmed.

    – It is a complex problem, but if it is to be tackled, it is required that the players of the clubs and everyone who loves football jointly say that this is not acceptable in our stands.

The government is investigating, among other things, whether the organizers should be given increased opportunities to use camera surveillance.

They are also investigating tougher penalties for those who disrupt the order of the matches.

The minister says that a basic problem is that you can mask yourself.
