Many people usually eat some dairy product for breakfast or a snack, such as yogurt, quark, cottage cheese or filet.

Yoghurt is a classic and something that has existed in Sweden since the late 1970s. Today, there are lots of different yogurt flavors to choose from, and in the 1980s, research into lactose intolerance began.

In 2002, the first completely lactose-free milk was launched in Sweden, and not long after that, the lactose-free yogurt also came.

Yogurt is milk that has been pasteurized and homogenized.

Homogenised means that the fat has been broken into smaller balls, so that no sedimentation occurs.

Yogurt originally comes from the Middle East and according to researchers, the first yogurt was accidentally produced in Mesopotamia, around 5,000 BC, which News24 wrote more about.

Curd is another popular dairy product that is popular to eat for breakfast or during exercise. Curd is made from sour milk coagulated with lactic acid bacteria.

After manufacturing, the texture becomes soft and creamy with a slightly sour taste. Since kvar is produced from sour milk coagulated with lactic acid bacteria, i.e. casein, it can strengthen calcium in the body.

The main proteins found in milk are casein and whey protein. Cow’s milk is approximately 80 percent casein and 20 percent whey protein.

Whey occurs during the production of cheese, when rennet enzyme is used and the casein in the milk is coagulated. According to ten liters of milk, there is one kilo of cheese and nine liters of whey Value.

Whey is a faster-acting protein, it is something that can help you with recovery and is therefore good to take after you have worked out.

Casein and the other side are slower and last for a longer period, therefore products rich in casein are better suited as a breakfast or snack for those who want to get more protein.
