Israel attacks military targets in Iran, the country’s military announces. The attack is said to be a response to “continuous attacks by the regime in Iran”.

Several military bases west and southwest of the Iranian capital, Tehran, have been attacked, according to the Fars news agency, which is controlled by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.

Explosions were also heard in western parts of the Iranian capital, according to the state-linked news agency Tasnim.

Israel’s military (IDF) describes the attacks as “precision attacks” against military targets.

– Like all other sovereign countries in the world, the State of Israel has the right and duty to respond. Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said in a video statement.

At the same time, there are reports of explosions around the Syrian capital, Damascus. The state-run Syrian news agency Sana reports that the city’s air defenses have been activated.

Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has previously threatened a “deadly, precise and surprising” response to Iran’s October 1 robot attack, when Israel was attacked with about 200 robots.
