Many expulsions and a match penalty – the even match between Djurgården and Björklöven contained many situations that the referees judged as foul play.
– It’s quite a dangerous game, says TV4’s expert Per Svartvadet.
In the first period, Djurgården incurred a total of four expulsions.
– I don’t think we come out and grab our own game, I think they come out and are hotter than us in duels. I think we fall on the discipline, and that’s what we said we wouldn’t do. So I would like to see us promoted, says Djurgården’s coach Robert Kimby during the first period break.
Björklöven has scored in the majority of their power plays and has had the upper hand in terms of goals for most of the entire match.
In the second period, however, the away team would go on a match penalty. Theoklis Theocharidis had to leave the match after a so-called slewfoot, when you basically kick away the legs of the opponent.
– It is definitely a slewfoot. It’s quite a dangerous game, you’re quite unprotected when someone kicks your feet away, says TV4’s expert Per Svartvadet.
Djurgården came back – but fell after penalties
Despite Björklöven leading by as much as 3-6 in the third period, Djurgården came back and equalized at 6-6 with a few minutes left in the third period. The clinching goal came through Victor Eklund who scored a hat trick..
The match then went to extra time and penalties, where Björklöven won and took two points, which means they remain as league leaders.
