Cross-country skiing: Setback for Frida Karlsson after foot injury: “Skiing is a bit away”

Frida Karlsson has been challenged during the autumn with injury problems in, among other things, her left foot – and has decided to postpone the planning going forward.

– The body did not respond as I wanted after the first sessions on snow in the Vålådalen, and we realized that skiing is a long way off for me. I needed to make a change in order to get the best conditions going forward, says Frida Karlsson to the Swedish Skiing Association.

Abstain from national team camp

She will not be participating in the upcoming national team camp in Val Senales, Italy, but is instead focusing on alternative training in Tenerife – to cycle and rehabilitate at altitude.

– It is an overload in the soft parts of the left foot, which, in combination with a tough autumn of training, has contributed to overloading and incorrect loading of, among other things, the groin. A combination that means Frida Karlsson needs to back off from training on snow – and focus on rehabilitation and alternative training, says national team doctor Rickard Noberius.

It is unclear whether the start of the season is in jeopardy.
