Administrative law: The JLC gold is not lost property

The gold bars found in the attic of a villa in Mölndal, which the humor group JLC claims, are not lost property according to the administrative law.

When Lucas Simonsson and Carl Déman from the comedy group JLC bought and renovated a house in Mölndal, craftsmen found around ten kilos of gold and five kilos of platinum in a hidden space in the attic. The find is said to be worth around eleven million kroner.

The disputes have been back and forth since months. Several parties are involved, including the JLC duo, the seller of the house but also the craftsmen who actually found the gold.

But according to the administrative court’s assessment, the gold bars have been in someone’s possession, so it is not a question for the Lost Property Act. The police authority’s decision is thus correct and the artisans are not entitled to the gold or finder’s wages.

– We have found that it is unlikely that the property would have accidentally ended up in the attic hidden behind some kind of shelf, says the president of the court, Chief Councilor Ann-Louise Björnsson, in a press release.

The rightful owner of the gold bars is dealt with in the Gothenburg district court in civil litigation.
