A lawyer had such extensive contact with his convicted murderer client, and his wife, that she violated the free and independent position required in the profession, according to the Supreme Court.

Now she is excluded from the Bar Association.

The client is convicted of a highly publicized murder in the Stockholm area, and is now serving a life sentence. However, the now disbarred lawyer represented him in another case.

The exclusion is also based on the fact that the lawyer took on assignments for the client’s wife despite a conflict of interest, that she breached the supervision of an assistant lawyer and participated in manipulation during telephone conversations with another client deprived of liberty.

The circumstances are considered “extremely aggravating” by HD, which emphasizes that the violations risk damaging the judiciary, trust in the administration of justice and the important role of lawyers in a rule of law.
