There China reaffirmed the importance of the bloc as a counterweight to the domination of global institutions by the West.

With the addition of countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Iran, Beijing marks a key step in increasing the influence of Brics. This strengthens ties with energy and oil-rich nations, essential to China’s energy security.

Beijing wanted to emphasize technological collaboration. These include promoting Chinese innovations and expanding digital business partnerships. The summit also discussed China’s vision of reducing dependence on Western technologies and fostering greater self-sufficiency among the Brics nations.

By reaffirming the bloc’s growing influence in the geopolitical landscape, the Chinese president wants to be ” a stabilizing force for peace » – calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, to revive the two-state solution and stop the spread of war in Lebanon.

Favorable to the enlargement of the BRICS, Xi Jinping reaffirmed “ whatever the evolution of the international situation, China will take root in the Global South » – thus underlining his leadership ambitions within the group.
