At the curiosity dealer in Diablo 4, players can “gamble” for items in certain categories. One of them wanted to buy gloves and got one of the best Mythic Uniques in the strongest variant.
The Curiosity Dealer is your contact point in Diablo 4 if you have collected enough donations. For the donations you can “gamble” on items from certain categories and thus improve your equipment and builds. You collect the currency on the side anyway, for example when you level up your glyphs in the pit.
A player plunked 1,000 donations on the head of the “Gambler” to get new gloves. The inventory not only contained new gloves, but also a mythical head protection.
A 4GA Harlequin Crown as a random drop
What item did he get? On Reddit, calvinowrld shows in a 26-second clip how he spends his donations at the curiosity dealer and clicks on the glove category until his inventory is full. For 1,000 donations he gets:
The Mythic is the Harlequin Crown. This is a head protection that many players also call “Shako”. All five classes can equip the Harlequin Crown and it gives you +4 ranks to all your skills. On top of that, you get increased damage and cooldown reduction.
But the player was particularly lucky here because: The mythical head protection has four larger affixes (4GA) and is therefore the best variant you can get of the Harlequin Crown. Specifically, this means that all four affixes are present in the strongest variant.
In the comments, various users discuss how lucky calvinowrld was. kanrad summarizes the drop below:
In general there is a small chance of getting a Mythic, and when gambling the chance is even smaller. Now you roll a slot where it doesn’t normally appear. Then you have a pool of random mythics. Then the astronomical event happens that all of this comes together and it’s a 4GA.
It’s like playing poker and winning with a checkmate. It’s so damn rare that you actually won a completely different game.
And Hollowregret says basically the creator of the post should give up any form of gambling or anything that has to do with luck, like the lottery, for the rest of his life.
The Harlequin Crown is the best head protection in many strong builds, especially for the Spiritborn. You can find the best builds for the endgame in Season 6 of Diablo 4 in our overview.
Does this happen often? In fact, several players have reported receiving Mythic Uniques from the Curiosity Dealer even though they were “gambling” on items from other categories. A player received the Tyrael’s Might Mythic Chest Guard when purchasing boots.
It’s worth trying your luck at the Curiosity Dealer on Mythics, especially if you always accumulate a lot of donations anyway. There is another chance for a mythical drop with the bosses, which you can run from torment level 1. To summon them you need certain Mats.
You can also craft the coveted Mythic Uniques yourself – since Season 6 there have even been two options for this. You get a random mythic from the blacksmith and a specific one from the jeweler. At first glance, the Jewelsmith is more worthwhile, but you need a bunch of runes to craft it.
