Jaakko Hanninen who has settled in France continues his cycling

Finnish cyclist Jaakko Hänninen continues his professional career in France at the Continental level of men’s road cycling.

Jaakko Hänninen says in his press release that he has signed a one-year contract with Nice Metropole Cote d’Azur, a team from his hometown of Nice.

Since 2019, Hänninen, 27, has represented the French team Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, which competes at the top level of the sport, i.e. on the world tour, but the Finn’s contract expires at the end of this year.

The Continental teams compete at a lower level than the world tour.

– Next year, the competition calendar will focus on French professional competitions. The role in the team will offer more of my own opportunities, but at the same time I get to share the experience gained in recent years with the team’s younger drivers. My goal is to ride at a higher level again in 2026, Hänninen said in the press release.
