32 people died in a karaoke bar fire in Vietnam – the case is now being tried in court | News in brief

In Vietnam, the charges of six people related to the karaoke bar fire two years ago were discussed in court on Thursday. More than 30 people died in the fire. The state media reported on the matter.

The owner of the bar, the contractor involved in its construction and four police officers are accused of violating fire safety regulations, among other things. The court is scheduled to issue its decision on Friday.

In September 2022, 32 people died in a fire on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City in South Vietnam. The widely shocking incident saw the closure of thousands of karaoke bars in Vietnam that did not meet fire safety regulations.

In recent years, there have been several devastating building fires in Vietnam. Last year, more than 50 people were killed in a building fire in Hanoi.
