Torture-like violence against children exposed in new documentary

On social media, the parents showed a happy family life, but behind closed doors the children were subjected to cruel violence.
– Among other things, they were taped, tied and showered with cold water, says reporter Hannah Engberg, who met the children’s biological mother in connection with the podcast documentary “My children in the cold room”.

In December, the father and bonus mother were sentenced to twelve years in prison for serious assault and torture-like violence against the children. The sentence was later reduced to ten years in the Court of Appeal. The violence took place over four weeks, where the children were subjected to various forms of abuse.

– They were also locked in a storage room as punishment, but what really happened before these four weeks is still unclear, says reporter Hannah Engberg in Nyhetsmorgon.

The biological mother suffered from postpartum depression after her second child and was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She received treatment, but after the separation, the father prevented her from having contact with the children. He expressed concern about her ability to care for them, which led to the mother being denied access.

– The mother tried in various ways to meet her children.

The mother’s struggle was ignored by the authorities

Despite the fact that she turned to the social service and that several reports of concern were received, the social service chose not to initiate an investigation. In the documentary, the mother explains her criticism of how the safety net in society did not work, and how her attempts to protect her children were ignored.

– The mother’s experience is that no one listened to her and that the safety net in society does not work, says Engberg.

A shocking discovery in live broadcast

Bonus mom’s mother had a shocking realization when she watched Nyhetsmorgon.

– One Sunday when I watched Nyhetsmorgon, it was GW who was going to take up a case. They warned that the content could be difficult, and then they brought up the case of my daughter and her partner. What struck me as completely absurd was that the stool that appeared in the pictures in the newspapers and on TV was my stool, she says in the podcast documentary.
