Peli-Karhut collapsed in their EuroCup home match | Sports in a nutshell

Kotka Peli Karhut opened the womens Korisliiga with a victory over

Peli-Karhuje’s career continued in Europe’s second highest international basketball series, the EuroCup, on Wednesday.

Peli-Karhut lost to German Rutronik Stars Keltern 64–88 (46–34) in Group F of the women’s EuroCup basketball. The defeat was the second for the Eagles in three Euro matches.

The Finnish team led by 12 points at the break, but collapsed badly after the break and lost the game after that in their home hall by 36 points, 18–54.

– Pretty disappointed moods, when we came into the game well in the first half and were the gang on the field that was aggressive and proactive. After the break, it turned completely the other way, regretted PeKa’s leading scorer Elina Koskimies.

PeKa started the match strongly and won the opening quarter promisingly 26–14. With his infallible throwing hand, Koskimen collected ten points and Jade Williams and Roosa Kosonen five points for the woman.

The second period was even, and Roope Mäkelän the protectors went into the break with a 12 point lead 46–34. The man from Koski had scored 17 points for the home team at that point.

After the break, PeKa did nothing

In the third period, Keltern, which is second in the German series, offered knockout drops to PeKa’s defense and won the ten-minute period 29–10. At the same time, it turned its twelve-point deficit into a seven-point lead, 63–56.

In the last period, PeKa could not get to the opponent’s buttocks anymore, but Keltern, who appeared in the match in an upward direction, eventually increased their lead to 24 points.

– After the break, the opponent created pressure and utilized their own strength under the basket. We didn’t get enough stops again, and we couldn’t get into our own game, i.e. catch up to running. At least I didn’t get tired, but I think it was more due to the fact that we couldn’t find a common note, commented Koskimies.

PeKa’s US fullback Lauren Heard collected the powers of 17/7/4s. Koskimen did not score any additional points after the break. Kosonen bagged a total of 11 and Williams 9 points.

In the previous European game, PeKa had risen from a 17-point deficit to a historic 65–64 away win over the Belgian Castors Braine.

In a week, PeKa will travel to Romania and face the group leader Constanta, to whom they lost in the opening game played in Kotka.
