Ronny Svensson is perhaps Sweden’s most popular film critic, and thanks to this permanent film critic in TV4’s long-running “News Morning”.
Over the years, he has gained a large following and describes himself as a “critic and cultural scholar” on his Instagram. Despite this, he has been seen in a shop with the sign “Ronny Svensson – trainee”.

Ronny Svensson was born on 28 May 1960 in Gothenburg, which means that he will turn 65 in 2025.

According to Svenssons Linkedin profile He is educated at Stockholm University. In an interview with Halland’s news, he says that he chose to follow the cultural studies course.
On university website the program is described as broad and educational “for the entire cultural sector”.
– My low self-confidence is rooted in my working-class background, that I felt I wasn’t quite ready. But it has also been a driving force to get better. That’s why I started the cultural studies program at Stockholm University, said Svensson in the interview with the newspaper from 2015.

In September 2008, Ronny Svensson became a standing film reviewer on TV4’s “News Morning” and is still there today.
Svensson gives film tips weekly in the feature “Films of the week with Ronny Svensson”.
Before his features in “Nyhetsmorgon”, he was the presenter of “Ronny’s rolls” in Kanal 5. This program was broadcast between the years 1993 and 2002.

Ronny also has the cat Hurts at home who turned eleven in 2024. In an interview with Halland’s News he describes Sverker as his “‘partner’ and great love!”.

Is Ronny Svensson sick?
Ronny Svensson suffers from sleep apnea. In an interview with Svenska Dagbladet, he says that he has snored all his life, but that it would take some time before he realized that there was something wrong.
– I had enough and spoke to my cardiologist who told me to go to Aleri’s sleep clinic. There was a long queue, but I was given a waiting time for a sleep study which showed that I had pauses for breathing every 45 seconds. Every time my body reacted like I was going to die, no wonder I was dead tired during the day.
Ronny then got to try a CPAP machine – something that changed his life.

– I turned off the light at 11pm and woke up at six. It was magical, I just smiled and drank tea all morning. I had slept for seven hours straight and felt refreshed and rested, he told me the newspaper when.

Ronny Svensson’s unexpected job – intern
Despite the prestigious titles he’s donned over the years, some posts from his Instagram show that he’s actually taken on the role of an intern. And that at the record store Hot Records in Stockholm.
This is not entirely unexpected as Svensson not only consumes films in his everyday life but also a lot of music. Including the idol Marc Bolan from the rock band T. Rex is often seen on Svensson’s social media. He has also played drums in the band Kai Martin & Stick! which reunited in 2015.
