Frida Karlsson and Maja Dahlqvist do the first snow session of the season

Frida Karlsson and Maja Dahlqvist are two of our biggest Swedish medal hopes in the WC next year.
Now they show how the training is going for the new season, with a video clip from when they went on snow for the first time in a long time.
“MDFK’s first snow touch!”, writes Dahlqvist on Instagram.

On February 26, 2025, the World Ski Championships will start in Trondheim, Norway. During two weeks, millions of Swedes will follow how it goes Frida Karlsson, Ebba Andersson, William Poromaa, Jonna Sundling, Calle Halfvarsson and the rest of the national team riders. Will there be any blue-yellow gold medals? There is quite a lot that speaks for it.

Going together again

Right now, the riders are fully preparing for the World Cup premiere in Ruka, Finland, which begins on November 29. They have been running, cycling, strength training and roller skiing all summer. Finally, it’s almost time to start skiing for real… on snow.

Some have already started. It has been a classic pre-season camp in Jämtland’s Vålådalen for the Swedish skiers. On Instagram, the sprint star has Maja Dahlqvist posted a clip of her and best friend Frida Karlsson skiing together for the first time in a long time.

“MDFK’s first snow touch!”, she writes, and by MDFK she means the initials of both skaters.

Despite the fact that Vålådalen’s mountain station had problems with its snow-filled ski tracks in recent days due to the too warm weather – Östersunds-Posten writes about this – the national team skiers actually seem to have managed. In the film clip that Maja published, it looks absolutely fantastic with the white blanket on the ground.

The Swedes’ reactions

Many followers were very happy when they saw how Maja and Frida rode together in the tracks in Vålådalen. It is, to say the least, a good sign for the new season. It also seems that many had the exact same thoughts spinning in their heads after watching the video.

“Unfair that you can ride on snow already in October”, comments one person.
“So damn jealous. Longing for the premiere of Bruksvallarna on TV and to see the fires and light on TV,” writes another.
“Longing longing longing until I get to see you compete again,” writes a third.
“We can’t wait to see you,” someone says.
“Wonderfully the season is approaching,” comments one person.

One month left until the premiere in Ruka. Then it’s just over three months before it’s time for the WC in Trondheim. It will be so exciting!

Like many others, we here at Sportbibeln long for a big championship with lots of talented Swedes who will fight for the medals.
