Amazon is expanding its ultra-fast Evening Express delivery service to ten French cities. It allows Prime subscribers to receive their purchases the same evening, just after placing their order, and at no additional cost.
The Amazon Prime program offers numerous services, starting with a video-on-demand platform, an audio streaming service with two million music titles available offline, but also numerous books in digital format, a cloud gaming service and video games. But what makes the subscription successful is undeniably the fast and free delivery within 24 hours.
But did you know that Jeff Bezos’ firm offers a same-evening delivery service called Evening Express? This allows you to receive certain products on the same day of the order. Until now, it was present in six cities, namely Paris, Lille, Lens-Liévin, Douai, Valenciennes and Hénin-Carvin. As she announces in a blog postthe company extends Evening Express to the cities of Lyon, Marseille, Rouen and Strasbourg.
Amazon Prime: Evening Express at your service
To benefit from this option, you must place an order before a certain time, generally indicated on the item page. Deliveries are made between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., including public holidays – with the exception of January 1, May 1 and December 25. The service is free for Prime members for orders over €25 – unlike the press release, the site mentions €35. Below this amount, however, you will have to pay €3.99.
Among the products concerned, we find Amazon branded items, such as the Fire TV Stick, but also products from independent local companies in all areas of sales: beauty, food products, stationery, toys, electronics, etc. Note that the number of products transported in this way has increased by more than half compared to 2023.
Amazon Prime: fast evening delivery is gradually expanding
Amazon takes the opportunity to detail the products most delivered via Evening Exxpress in French cities where the service is available. Thus, in Paris, one of the most requested products is none other than a hair dryer. For their part, the Lyonnais are turning to whole-grain coffee, while in Marseille, Prime customers prefer portable PC chargers. And in Strasbourg, instant shrimp noodles are one of the most popular products!
To improve its service, Amazon plans to invest more than 700 million euros within its logistics network in Europe, in robotics and technologies based on artificial intelligence. The company intends to speed up its deliveries, increase the number of eligible items and reduce lead times. It is also working to reduce its carbon footprint, including using electric vehicles and cargo bikes for its deliveries, committing to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
