What are the health risks?
Consumption of products contaminated with Salmonella bacteria can cause foodborne illness. Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, fever and headache which usually appear 6 to 72 hours after ingestion. Vulnerable people such as children, pregnant women and the elderly may experience more severe symptoms. If consumed, it is advisable to consult a doctor if signs appear.
If there are no symptoms within 7 days after consuming the affected products, there is no need to worry and consult a doctor. If the product must be cooked before consumption: cooking the products (hard-boiled eggs, pastries, poultry meat, etc.) through the core at +65°C helps destroy these bacteria and prevent the consequences of such contamination.
Consumers who purchased these raw sausages are asked to return them to the store for a refund. Distributors will provide information on the points of sale concerned.
