HV71 general manager Chris Abbott has already finished with the Carolina Hurricanes and is moving this spring.
Former hockey player Per Svartvadet thinks it’s a scandal.
– This tastes very bad in my mouth, I think, the way he has actually acted, he says in the TV4 Hockey podcast.
Things are going slow for HV71 during the start of the season. The team’s new coach Anton Blomqvistwho came from AIK in the Hockey Allsvenskan before this season, has only managed to lead the team to three victories in the opening eleven rounds.
“Would not have been acceptable”
It has been clear for some time that the club’s new general manager, Chris Abbottwill move to the NHL team’s Carolina Hurricanes organization this spring, less than a year after signing with HV71. It is still unclear exactly what role he will have at the new club.
The former SHL professional Sanny Lindstrom44, has previously gone out and saw the club’s actions in the matter. He is now a hockey expert on TV4 Play and said in their studio broadcast last week that none of the big clubs in the SHL would let their sporting director have a clause in the contract that would allow him to leave after just one season. But the HV71 obviously had it.
– The more I have marinated this, the more unprofessional it becomes for me that HV71 chooses to give Abbott a clause to leave after one year on his contract. Now everything is razed – this is very bad from HV71, he said.

– Färjestad had not done it, Växjö had not done it, Skellefteå had not done it, Frölunda had not done it. It would not have been acceptable to give the most important person in the whole association a clause after one year – it is incredibly poorly managed.
The Black Wad does not like the excuses
Another former hockey player who is absolutely convinced that the HV71 is on the wrong track is the Modo icon Per Svartvadet49. I The TV4 Hockey podcast he recently said that Chris Abbott’s behavior is reprehensible.
– If you write for three years, then you stay for three years if you don’t get fired. This tastes very bad in my mouth, I think, the way he has acted actually, he says.
In the podcast, the Expressen journalist says Adam Johansson that it is perfectly reasonable that the Canadian Abbott is keen on a role in an NHL team, that it is a chance that he may never get again and that it is rare to even be asked. But Svartvadet still doesn’t think that’s a good enough reason.

– Has he been at the post for six months? And then jump off. No, I don’t like the way it was acted both from HV71 who entered the clause and Abbott who was elsewhere in his mind set. It will be messier in HV this whole season, says Per Svartvadet.
It is strange to say the least that Chris Abbott is allowed to leave the club so quickly. The agreement didn’t seem to mean anything.
