In September, an 80-year-old man was stabbed in Hässelby, in western Stockholm. Completely unprovoked.
The perpetrator filmed the attack and the clip was then spread on social media. A few days later, a then 14-year-old boy was arrested, suspected of the attempted murder. It would turn out that the boy could be connected to a satanic internet sect called “764”. The sect glorifies violence and has forced children to self-harm. They have, among other things, blackmailed a young girl in the US to behead her hamster and to broadcast her suicide live. The FBI has warned the group, and the founder, a teenager, is currently serving an 80-year prison sentence for child pornography offenses.
So who exactly are the “764”? What do they want? And how widespread are they in Sweden?
