Carin Strömberg came to Vipers from French Nantes, which went bankrupt. She joined a club that had won three Champions League titles, but which, like her previous club, had major financial problems alongside the sporting side.
– It has been stressful, a lot of waiting for decisions. It has been a special week, then we are happy that the last news was positive, says Strömberg to SVT Sport.
It was last week that the news broke that Vipers would also be declared bankrupt.
For Strömberg, it was the second time in three months that she had to receive such a message.

Knew about the problems
Strömberg was to some extent aware of the financial problems the club had.
– There has been talk about it in the handball world, but I don’t think anyone knew how serious the problems were. We actually found out that last week, she says.
The bankruptcy was then stopped at the last second by a group of shareholders led by Vipers profile Morten Jørgensen pushing for the missing 24 million.
Right now there is a national team break, but the announcement was welcome.
– It’s a huge relief, both because I’m enjoying myself very well but also for a sense of stability and knowing where to go on Sunday. Otherwise, it would have been just a question, says Strömberg.
“A roller coaster”
Vipers Kristiansand have had financial problems before. Last winter, the players had to call around and ask for donations to the club.
Jamina Roberts was one of the players who got to call around then. It was not a feeling she was prepared to experience again.
– Having a club is not something you usually have to be grateful for, but I am today. It has been a rollercoaster with a lot of emotions and information, she tells SVT Sport.
The players’ salaries were postponed, but according to Roberts, the crisis has not affected her financially.
Roberts has this season left on his contract.
