Brain and Nerve Surgery Specialist Assoc. Prof. from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Hakan Çakın, in his studies on diseases encountered during seasonal transitions, revealed that the risk of brain hemorrhage increases.
IT IS MORE COMMON IN MEN
Assoc. Prof. stated that brain hemorrhage is more common in men than in women. Dr. Çakın said, “Aneurysmatic hemorrhages are known as brain hemorrhages that occur as a result of the bubbles in the arteries in the brain. It was observed that these hemorrhages increased by 10 percent, especially in the autumn and early spring. It was observed that bubbles formed on the arteries in the brain due to the effect of smoking.”
RISK INCREASES DURING SEASONAL CYCLES
Assoc. Prof. said that genetic diseases may be effective in brain hemorrhage. Dr. Hakan Çakın said, “These bubbles, formed due to hypertension, smoking and advanced age, tend to occur more quickly in times of seasonal cycles and cause brain hemorrhage. They are less common in children. Genetic aneurysms can also be seen frequently in childhood, especially in Japan and Finland, but “It is not that common in our country. Over a certain age, especially after the age of 30-50, hypertension and smoking have a big impact on this issue. Horseshoe kidney disease, patients on dialysis, or blood pressure problems and genetic diseases can be effective in those seen at young ages,” he said.
‘THEY SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM SMOKING’
Assoc. Dr. Hakan Çakın stated that brain hemorrhage may show signs in advance:
“Headache is one of the most important symptoms. Those with a disease such as horseshoe kidney, one of the diseases I mentioned, should have themselves checked more often. Patients on dialysis need to be more careful for brain aneurysms. Individuals who have had aneurysms and related bleeding in their families before should go for frequent checkups. More than once.” First-degree relatives of people with brain aneurysms should also consult a doctor, because if it is caught early, treatment is very easy for us. Unfortunately, it can be very difficult for these patients to reach the hospital after bleeding. “First of all, they should stay away from smoking. Smoking is one of the most important factors that can cause bleeding in patients who have had or have never had aneurysm surgery.”
