The emergency services were alerted to the accident at 06:15 on Tuesday morning.
– It’s a car that has had a serious collision with a moose. Right now we are working on the removal. The car will need to be salvaged, says Mikael Nygren, officer on duty.
Two people have been taken to hospital, one with serious injuries. Two other cars are said to have been involved in the accident.
Major traffic impact
During the morning, the traffic impact was great, with stops in both directions, according to the police. According to the emergency services, there have mainly been queues on the E20 in the direction of Strängnäs and Eskilstuna.
– I can imagine that it affects too many people going to work, but we are starting to ease up there now and remove some resources. In about a quarter of an hour we should have the traffic in order, says Nygren.
Several moose accidents
During Tuesday morning, three other moose accidents also occurred in traffic. The first occurred at the Almnäs junction, between Södertälje and Nykvarn.
– A moose was hit by a car there. One person was taken to hospital by ambulance, says Daniel Kaissidis at the rescue service The Express.
The other moose accidents occurred near Götarondellen on E45 and on national highway 44 between Lidköping and Grästorp.
