Linn Persson has become Linn Gestblom.
The biathlete recently married her Christian – but now reveals that there were many things that went wrong during the wedding day.
– I’m not going to blame him, he had a lot to do that morning, she tells Expressen.
The 30-year-old biathlete Linn Gestblom (previous Person) from Östmark in Värmland has picked up six WC medals and two Olympic medals during his career. The entry into the World Cup took place in 2015 and since then she has often performed in above all relay and mixed relay.
Popcorn disaster at the wedding
Ahead of the new season, Gestblom has been fully focused on coming back from a shoulder injury. She has operated on one shoulder twice and was forced to cancel the WC in February this year. Now there has been plenty of time to train up the strength and functionality of the shoulder again.
Otherwise, much of Linn’s life in recent months has been about the summer wedding at home in Värmland. She married Christian Gestblom and changed his last name – which still confuses some.
Now the biathlete reveals to Expressen that there were a lot of things that did not go as planned at the wedding itself. In fact, there was a bit of a drama, or maybe a breakdown, when it came to certain details. For example, the husband forgot the flower bouquets that Linn was supposed to have in the photo shoot before the wedding. But there was an explanation, albeit an unexpected one.

– I won’t blame him, he had a lot to do that morning. We had set up a small tent, with a popcorn machine in it, to keep it organized. We were going to make it easy for ourselves and leave it overnight, but it’s a tent so it wasn’t locked. And then some had been inside popping popcorn at night, or the night before, she says and continues:
– So the first thing Christian had to do was start cleaning, there was popcorn everywhere, so it got stressful I guess and all of a sudden he felt he needed to leave to catch up.
This honeymoon
In the end, Linn Gestblom managed to get help from her uncle to go and get the flowers so that she could be photographed before the wedding. They also found a solution to the popcorn problem – so in the end, the couple still did well.
However, they haven’t really been able to “consummate” the marriage with a honeymoon, because Linn has had to stay at home and rehab. They choose to go a little later instead, when the situation looks different.

– We had some plans for it, but this year, someone else has the most focus on training. Christian has nothing against training, but he said that “I don’t want to go to a training camp”. And I understand that, so we have to wait for the honeymoon if we’re going anywhere, she says.
This sounds stressful, as wedding planning often does. Things don’t always turn out as planned. But it can still be extremely good.
