Former lead singer of the band Iron Maiden Paul Di’Anno has passed away on Monday, according to Di’Anno’s longtime label Conquest Music.

According to the record company, Di’Anno died at his home in Salisbury, England. He was 66 years old when he died.

Di’anno replaced the one who quarreled with the other members of the band by Dennis Wilcock in 1978 and appeared on Iron Maiden’s first two studio albums, Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981).

Di’anno was fired from the band at the end of the 1981 Killer World Tour due to lingering substance abuse problems. The band’s soloist was hired as Di’anno’s replacement Bruce Dickinson.

After Iron Maiden, Di’anno made a career as a solo artist.
