This weekend, the Simhallsbadet in Kiruna closed without warning.
Outside the entrance stands a cluster of lighted candles.
– It concerns a personnel matter that is very challenging for everyone involved. We have therefore closed the business out of consideration for the staff, says department head Jan Klein.
It was last Saturday that the popular bathhouse suddenly closed down indefinitely. According to the municipality, the cause was a “serious incident”. On Monday, the bath was still closed.
– We have closed the business out of consideration for the staff, says department head Jan Klein.
He does not want to go into what it is that has happened at the bath house. The incident must have occurred on Saturday.
Several lit candles are lit at the entrance to the bath. Jan Klein states that the closure is only due to an internal process with the staff and that there is no investigative work connected to the swimming pool which means that it needs to be closed.

Police: No crime suspected
According to the police, it is a matter of illness.
– We do not suspect any crime, says Elisabeth Glaas, the police’s spokesperson.
On Monday, in a week, the bathhouse will open again. It is not yet clear to what extent the business can open up.
– Based on the situation, we are sitting and working on the question of how we can safely and competently staff the opening of the swimming pool. Badet conducts many different types of business and we have to decide what we as a business can deliver during a start-up next week, says Jan Klein.
