PFAS in drinking water

The Nature Protection Association has examined the tap water in approximately 30 municipalities and in the majority of them he has found PFAS – chemicals that break down extremely slowly and can increase the risk of negative health effects.

— We are talking about substances that are hazardous to health. It’s in the drinking water, it’s in our lakes, it’s in the streams – it’s even in the rainwater. We have to do something about the situation, says Secretary General Karin Lexén to TT.

Among the surveyed municipalities, three stand out: Gävle, Halmstad and Västerås. There are higher levels of PFAS than the limit value and these municipalities will therefore have to take measures to solve the problem before 2026.
