TF1 has scheduled a police and family comedy, Le Daron, from Monday October 21. Created by Manon Dillys and Anthony Maugendre, the series follows the journey of Vincent Daron, a brilliant Bordeaux lawyer at the head of the famous firm he founded with his brother. But when he dies, Daron discovers with amazement that he has bequeathed all his shares to a young lawyer unknown to the family, Pauline Lefranc, played by Mélanie Bernier. A shock for Daron’s children, convinced of inheriting from their uncle. What follows is a family chaos from which Daron will have to get out with a lot of mischief and chatter.
In the shoes of this tenor of the bar with his words and unorthodox methods, we find the former Unknown Didier Bourdon. The actor forms with Mélanie Bernier (25 films since Barnie and his little annoyances in 2000 and as many appearances on TV) an astonishing and complicit duo of lawyers. And the rest of the cast is not left out since they are surrounded by Audrey Pirault (The Crossing, The Chamois) and Ludovik in the roles of the Daron twins, Aline Afanoukoé as collaborator and the essential Mathilda May. Each episode sees an accused guest call on the Daron cabinet’s shock team.
“A colorful character, a little borderline”
But to portray this colorful lawyer character, Didier Bourdon drew his inspiration from very real and controversial personalities. He explains that he imagined Vincent Daron as “a truculent character, a little borderline, somewhere between Eric Dupond-Moretti and Bernard Tapie“. The ex-businessman turned minister, who succumbed to cancer in 2021 and the former Minister of Justice who just left the government, a lawyer as media-friendly as he is volcanic, two charismatic but divisive figures, seem to have been models to shape this fanciful character, as brilliant as he is unconventional.
The anecdote is all the more delicious since Bernard Tapie had once called on the criminal lawyer Eric Dupond-Moretti to ensure the defense of his companies within the framework of the investigation into the contested arbitration, supposed to put an end to to his conflict with Crédit Lyonnais in the early 2000s. An arbitration which will ultimately be judged fraudulent (on appeal) in 2021, the year in which the criminal proceedings will be abandoned following the death of the businessman.
From manipulations at the bar to informal meetings, including questionable investigation methods, Vincent Daron promises to shake up the clichés about the cozy world of lawyers. A tailor-made role for Didier Bourdon who enjoys this character “who doesn’t bother with codes and political correctness”, like his inspirations in real life. Prickly in the courtrooms, but also mischievous and gruff in the city, Daron will oscillate between delicate files and revelations about the mysterious Pauline, the new free electron of the cabinet.
