Cuba’s electricity grid collapsed again | News in brief

Repairs to the electricity grid are being made difficult by hurricane Oscar, which made landfall in the eastern parts of the country early on Monday.

Cuban Ministry of Energy according to the country’s electricity network collapsed again on Sunday in the middle of its repair operation. Attempts have been made to get the island state’s power grid, which collapsed on Friday, back into operation throughout the weekend.

Repairs to the electricity network are hampered by hurricane Oscar, which made landfall US National Hurricane Center (NHC) to the eastern part of Cuba early Monday Finnish time.

The collapse of the power grid that started on Friday was caused by a fault at Cuba’s largest power generation plant.
