Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken on the phone with US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Israeli media reports.

Netanyahu reiterated what he had previously said publicly, according to a statement from the prime minister’s office:

“Israel takes the issues the US government raises into consideration, but ultimately makes its decisions based on its own national interests.”

Earlier this week, Netanyahu’s office issued a similar statement, following US media reports that Netanyahu had promised President Joe Biden to pacify oil and nuclear energy targets in his planned retaliation against Iran.

Israel has promised a “bloody” response to the 200 robots that Tehran fired at the country on October 1. According to The Times of Israel, Israel’s security cabinet is meeting on Sunday night, likely to discuss retaliation against Iran.
