Copy Protection Denuvo Opens Discord Server to Talk to Gamers for 2 Months – Lasts 2 Days

The Denuvo copy protection is probably the most hated thing among gamers. Nevertheless, the company now thought it would be a good idea to open its own community server on Discord in order to speak transparently with gamers for two months and perhaps improve its image. The emergency brake was pulled after just 2 days

That was the idea: On October 15, 2024, Denuvo announced on Twitter that they were opening a Discord server for 2 months to answer fans’ most pressing questions.

This was the result of a phase in which a team at Denuvo analyzed gamer feedback and complaints and thought about how to communicate more transparently with fans.

They spoke to dozens of users and collected hundreds of messages to create an FAQ, but they also wanted to hear more voices in the Discord.

He also had brilliant ideas:

After 2 days, Denuvo presses the red button

This is how it turned out: Just two days later, Denuvo reported that they had 2,000 people on the server and thanked them very much for their interest. But unfortunately, unfortunately you have to stop sending messages:

As you can imagine, the volume of inappropriate content has made moderation a huge challenge for our small team who handle this task alongside their daily work.

As PCGamer reports, the entire Discord server has been put into read-only mode so that users will stop spewing profanities against Denuvo into the Discord.

PC Gamer also states that gamers simply hated Denuvo to the core and used the Discord to make that as clear as possible to the developers.

One of the few flames that has survived says something like: Would they have activated slow mode on Discord so that people in Discord would feel exactly what every gamer feels when they play a game with Denuvo.

The apparently well-intentioned initiative to give people a platform to exchange ideas ended, as expected, in disaster.

The experiment will continue on Monday under new conditions. We can wish Denuvo good luck.

Gamers hate this trick

What’s the problem with Denuvo? Denuvo annoys people who want to get “backup copies” of games on the Internet. But it also bothers gamers in general, because copy protection is criticized for putting too much strain on the CPU and reducing the lifespan of SSDs through excessive writing.

In some games, Denuvo also ensures technically weak performance. According to reports from Digital Foundry, a pirated version of Resident Evil Village, which has all copy protection removed, was significantly stronger than the release version: Dying Light 2 introduces controversial “feature” shortly before release, sparks huge discussion
