It begins with a superhero who has never been seen

There are two Marvel blockbusters that are well worth seeing on TV today. Captain America 2: The Return of the First Avenger does many things differently than the MCU films released before it, but the origin story Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings takes a completely different approach in its free TV premiere.

Today on TV: That’s what the MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is about

The ten rings are also secret Terror organization and magical relic. They give the main villain Wenwu (Tony Leung) supernatural fighting powers, which of course he doesn’t want to use for good. His son Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) therefore turns his back on him and tries to lead a completely normal life in San Francisco.

But his education and hard training in his youth catch up with Shang-Chi and at the same time pay off. Together with his old childhood friend Katy (Awkwafina), he has to face his father. The two become one fantastic world full of legends, monsters and magic pulled in.

What happens in Captain America 2: The Return of the First Avenger?

Even Captain America gets it with his own past to do: The soldier James “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan), who he trained for a special unit, did not actually die when he fell in the first Captain America film. Now he returns, even better trained, with a reinforced arm and no memories. A bitter fight ensues.

Why the free TV premiere of Shang-Chi and Captain America 2 is worth it

With Shang-Chi, not only is a new MCU hero from Asia coming into play, but also a breath of fresh air. A touch of wuxia, lots of martial arts fights and tons of crazy mythical creatures from Chinese mythology make the film an extraordinary experience as far as the MCU is concerned. But also those breathless struggles in the cramped bus or on the high-rise tower are impressive.

Captain America 2 occupies an proud 11th place in our big Moviepilot list of the best and worst MCU films. The film owes this to its also quite unusual direction. We have it here almost something to do with a political and espionage thrillerwhich relies on less epic bombast and more classic tension.
