Over the next two weeks, you can practice sensory-friendly trick-or-treating, go on a haunted hayride, or take part in a festive reading challenge.
Here are some ways to celebrate Halloween in Brant County and area.
Ghost Encounters Haunted Hayride and Barn — Oct. 19, 25, 26
It’s the 31st year for this spooky event at Brantwood Farms, which runs for four nights from 7 to 11 pm The admission ranges from $10 to $30 — depending on whether you want to do the haunted hayride, barn, corn maze, or all three — and supports Participation Support Services Brantford.
Hallow-Read Reading Challenge — Oct. 21 to 31
Little readers can earn a trick-or-treat bag by reading five fall or Halloween-themed books by the end of the month. Register at brantlibrary.ca/readingchallenges.

Halls of Halloween, Trick or Treat Practice — Oct. 23
This popular registration-only event is geared to clients at Lansdowne Children’s Center who have physical, communication or developmental challenges. It helps them practice for trick-or-treating, and get used to some of the elements of Halloween — such as costumes, noises, and waiting in line for a treat — that might be overstimulating or overwhelming for some kids, according to a media release from the organization.
Sensitive Halloween — Oct. 26
A free, sensory-friendly indoor trick-or-treating experience at Jason’s Wheelhouse in Paris is geared toward “higher needs individuals and their siblings” of all ages, according to the organization’s Facebook page. Guests are asked to pre-book a time between 11 am and 3 pm to enjoy costumes and candy with “soft decorations, soothing music, and cozy lighting,” according to the event page.

Stage Frights 2024: A Halloween Cabaret Fundraiser — Oct. 26
Costumes are encouraged at Paris Performers’ Theater’s “arresting and spooky” evening of theater, music, dance and performance that will “terrify and entertain you,” according to the Stage Frights 2024 poster. The 8 pm performance at St. Paul’s United Church will feature performers from the county with the $15 admission helping the community theater get back on its feet.
Mount Pleasant Halloween Dance — Oct. 26
A 19 and over Halloween dance hosted by the Mount Pleasant Parent Council and the Mount Pleasant Firefighters promised music, drinks, and “plenty of Halloween spirit” on their Facebook event page. Email [email protected] for tickets.
Halloween Walk — Oct. 31
Ghosts and goblins six and under are invited to Syl Apps Community Center in Paris for a free Halloween Walk — like trick-or-treating but without the candy — between 9:30 and 11:30 am Halloween morning.
