President of the United States Joe Biden has received the country’s highest merit badge, the Grand Cross of the Bundesverdienstkreuz, during his visit to Germany.
The federal president who handed over the badge of honor Frank-Walter Steinmeier thanked Biden for his decades-long commitment to NATO and for leading Europe in a dangerous time, says, among others, the news channel Deutsche Welle.
The previous president of the United States to have received that badge is George Bush senior. It was awarded to him in 1994.
