An extraordinary charge in Texas The doctor treated trans youth

Texas banned gender reassignment treatments for minors last year.

The first charge of illegally treating a trans youth has reportedly been filed in Texas, USA.

According to the lawsuit, the doctor has prescribed testosterone to at least 21 minors who want to change their gender from female to male.

Attorney General of the State of Texas by Ken Paxton according to the Dallas-based university pediatrician has endangered the safety and health of children and young people.

According to Paxton, the doctor has falsified medical records and prescriptions.

The indictment calls for fines and the revocation of professional rights

In Texas, a law came into effect in 2023 that prohibits gender reassignment treatments for minors. By law the nursing staff cannot reinforces the child’s perception of his/her gender, if the perception “contradicts with the biological sex”.

If puberty-postponing treatment or hormone therapy is prescribed for this purpose, the doctor may lose the right to practice his profession. If the treatments in question treat puberty that started too early or late, they are allowed.

The indictment calls for revocation of the doctor’s business license and a fine of 10,000 dollars per case, i.e. a total of about 194,000 euros in fines.

In the United States, about half of the states have partially or completely banned sex reassignment treatments for young people.

It is not known whether similar lawsuits have been filed elsewhere.
