Kärppien’s Michal Kovarcik avenged KalPa’s golden helmet for Patrick Curry with American tackle Reid Gardiner, another star player of Kärppien.
In the ice hockey SM league round, we saw three exits. Two of these came in the match between KalPa and Kärppie.
KalPa’s golden helmet Patrick Curry applied to Kärppi’s golden helmet Reid to Gardiner tackle in the opening set. Curry hit Gardiner in the legs.
Gardiner’s chain mate Michal Kovarcik got revenge on Curry. The Czech shook Curry, who was on the surface of the ice, with a cross stick in the neck area.
After the video review, Kovarcik received a 5+20 minute penalty for the situation, i.e. sent off.
Kovarcik and Gardiner are this season’s best scorers in the SM league HIFK Jori Lehterän after. Gardiner has been a real goal-scorer, as he had scored 15 goals and a total of 23 power points before tonight’s round.
Kovarcik, on the other hand, has provided 18 goal assists and registered a total of 21 power points.
KalPan, on the other hand, in the final round Konsta Kapanen got 5+20 minutes for being scolded. Kapanen was caught under a tackle, after which he hit Kärppien with his stick Julius From the nerve between the crotch.
Gardiner tied the game with just 7 seconds left in the third period, sending the game into overtime. However, KalPa was able to celebrate the victory when it was stronger in the shootout. KalPa won the match 5–4.
HIFK’s top streak continues, Tappara crushing Ilves

JYP beat KooKoo 2–0. The match was prolonged, because JYP’s defender Juice Field was injured right at the start of the match. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital for further examinations. The match was interrupted for more than 30 minutes.
Tampere’s first local game of this SM league season started an hour later than the other matches. Tappara leads Ilves 4–0.
