Michael Bradley is returning to the City of Brantford, this time as the municipality’s CAO.

The Brantford native was the city’s commissioner of community development before taking over as city manager for the City of St. Thomas.
“I’m very happy to be coming back to Brantford,” said Bradley in a news release issued by the city on Thursday. “Having grown up here, this community is close to my heart, and I am eager to work alongside Brantford’s dedicated staff and council to make a positive difference in the lives of Brantford residents.”
Bradley will succeed CAO Brian Hutchings, who recently announced his retirement, effective Jan. 3, 2025. Although Hutchings will be taking some leave over the next few months, he will continue to assist with the transition until Michael is fully settled in his new role, said the news release.

Prior to his job as commissioner of community development in Brantford, Bradley was CAO for the County of Brant. During his tenure, he led his team through growth and transition, and was integral to several of the county’s accomplishments, including the Green Energy Accord with Six Nations of the Grand River, and the development of Brant Municipal Enterprises Inc.
Mayor Kevin Davis said the city is excited to welcome Bradley back.
“His proven leadership skills, combined with his local roots and understanding of our community, will be tremendous assets in this position. I especially look forward to working with Michael again on development of the boundary lands, given his deep knowledge and past experience on this project.”
