Mustiga Mauri has released chips
News24 wrote at the beginning of the year that Mauri would change industry and start selling chips. Now the day has come and on October 14, Mauri’s chip brand “Redhead” was launched, which can now be obtained in stores.
Mauri has teamed up with Varga Moshtagh, David Carlsson and Joakim Ödlund and has now launched its chips. The chips are manufactured in a factory in Södertälje, a stone’s throw from where Mauri grew up.
The chips, which are now available in stores around the country, come in four different flavors: Chili Cheese, Dill and Wasabi, Sourcream and Onion and Green and Garlic.

That’s why Mauri Hermundson wanted to launch chips
When Nyheter24 interviewed Mauri, he explained what made him want to drop the chips.
– I’ve done a lot of TV shows and YouTube all my life, it’s unbelievable. But there was always some dream of making something that you can actually hold onto, that actually exists in reality and somewhere the dream of making chips was born, says Mauri in an interview with Nyheter24.
Of the four flavours, Chilli Cheese is Mauri’s own favourite.
– I’m weak for chilli cheese. It was probably my first that I wanted to start with, even before we had even been able to taste it. I think it’s incomprehensible that that flavor hasn’t been available as chips before, considering how good it is with chilli cheese, he tells Nyheter24 and continues:
– I was so damn happy when I got to taste it for the first time, because we had sort of succeeded. What I was so happy about was that it tasted like chili cheese solid in chip form. It felt surreal!

Nyheter24’s test panel has tasted the different varieties and rated them between one and five.
There is one flavor that floors the entire test panel and one flavor that splits the test panel into two different camps. Here are the justifications from the panel and an average rating.

“Tastes just like the dip you can buy at fast food restaurants. Good but doesn’t work wonders on the palate.”
“Also very good, but almost could have tasted even more to be absolutely perfect.”
“You’ll find me on the sofa on a Friday with one hand in the bag and the other with an ice-cold beer.”
“I probably would have loved these chips if they… Tasted more?”
“Good, but nothing special. Wouldn’t say no if offered, but there are plenty of other chips I’d rather buy.”

“Clear taste of chili cheese. However, I felt that the taste was a bit flat, as it faded quickly.”
“Soooo delicious, and really tasted exactly like real chili cheese. Will buy again!”
“Not my cup of tea. Absolutely fine”.
“I usually hate cheese flavored chips, but these might be my new favorite chips? Just the right amount of cheddar flavor and jalapeño heat.”
“Okay at first. But a bit cheesy and oniony, which makes you tired quickly.”

“Quite ok but way too salty for my taste. You get the sourcream and onion taste but only for a brief second before the salt takes over.”
“Classic taste that ALWAYS goes home in my book. I also like the texture and shape of the chips very much in general.”
“A really well-made classic. Super tasty!”
“I love sourcream & onion, and these chips really do the flavor justice. Highly recommend!”

“We’re talking good flavors here. The wasabi is felt immediately, without taking over and slowly transitioning to dill. Well-balanced and tasty! To reach a five in the rating, I would like the wasabi flavor to be more persistent and even clearer to create more heat.”
“Definitely good if you like wasabi, but for a weasel like me, it was really hard to eat…”
“Finally, a chip is being launched that doesn’t taste like anything else. Unbelievably good!”
“Wasabi? These taste like plain horseradish and nothing else. No wonder, since they don’t even contain wasabi. Not a favorite.”
“Unique and exciting, but unfortunately disgusting. Now we know that wasabi and chips don’t belong together.”
