Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: Journalistic drug trip
Based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by Hunter S. Thompson, the film tells of a road trip by sports journalist Raoul Duke (Depp) and his lawyer Dr. Gonzo (Del Toro). Originally traveling to Las Vegas to report on a motorsport race in the desert, it fades into the background while the two of them meet repeatedly indulge in hallucinogenic drug experiences.
That’s what they have for, among other things “two bags of weed, 75 pellets of mescaline, five blotter sheets of extra-strong acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine and a whole spectrum of multi-colored uppers, downers, howlers, laughs” and even more in your luggage. A reckoning is also made with the American dream and the end of the hippie movement.
