The US Department of Justice announced on Thursday that it has charged an Indian government employee with complicity in plotting an assassination attempt in New York. The man suspected of ordering the assassination was charged in absentia.
According to the ministry, the target of the failed assassination attempt was a New York-based Sikh leader who holds US citizenship.
An Indian government employee is suspected of recruiting another Indian man to carry out the assassination. The man in question was arrested last summer in the Czech capital, Prague, from where he was returned to the United States.
